Semi loses load in Cameron

A semi-truck carrying lumber lost its load in Cameron Monday morning.

The truck lost its load coming over the railroad tracks on Carthage Street near McNeil Street. It is unclear why the load came unstrapped, but the State Highway Patrol is investigating it.

Most of the lumber fell off and landed against the side of a pickup truck. The truck swerved to miss the falling lumber.

The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were transported to Moore Regional Hospital by EMS. The pile of lumber blocked the driver-side door, so firefighters had to remove the driver through the passenger door.

The pickup had windshield damage and driver-side damage. A stack of lumber fell on the railroad caution arm, breaking it. CSX was called in to stop trains and assess the damage.

The railroad tracks and Carthage Street were closed for several hours.

The driver of the semi was unharmed in the accident.
