Home at Last Farms and Carthage Masonic Lodge #181 will host the seventh annual “Service Before Self” event to honor military members, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians for their selfless service to the community.
The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 10 p.m. at Home at Last Farms, located at 527 Red Hill Road in Cameron.
The weekend also includes the second annual Carthage Lodge #181 BBQ Cookoff, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 26. Visa gift cards will be awarded to the top three teams: $500 for first place, $300 for second, and $200 for third, along with a People’s Choice award. The team entry fee is $150. Plates will be sold for $15 each.
Proceeds from the event will cover food, entertainment, and other expenses. Remaining funds will benefit the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford and the Adult & Teen Challenge of Sandhills, two organizations supporting children and families in need.
Carthage Lodge #181 says that donations and sponsorships are appreciated to help support the event.
