A Southern Pines man now has a rap sheet with 135 charges after being arrested Saturday.
The Southern Pines Police Department arrested Rodney Alexander Simmons, 52, after a warrant had been issued. Simmons was charged with larceny, according to a news release from the department.
Simmons’ rap sheet dates back to 1990.
Past charges range from ‘misdemeanor traffic offenses to being convicted as a habitual felon with 17 prior felony convictions.’ Past convictions predominately include breaking and entering to motor vehicles, breaking into coin machines, general larceny offenses, theft of motor vehicles and possession of stolen property.
Simmons was released on bail for five charges that are currently pending in Moore County, which includes felony possession of cocaine when officers arrested him Saturday.
“It is probable that Rodney Alexander Simmons will once again be released to our community in the very near future,” said Southern Pines Police Department. “We are providing this information to the community as part of our ongoing crime prevention efforts. Once Rodney Alexander Simmons is released, we encourage the community to contact their local law enforcement agency, in the event they see Rodney Alexander Simmons engaged in any suspicious or criminal activity. This also is applicable for all other individuals engaged in suspicious or criminal behavior. Rodney Alexander Simmons is a black male, 6’1”, 165 pounds, with greying short hair. Rodney Alexander Simmons has a last known address of West New York Avenue in Southern Pines.”

Simmons is jailed on a $1,000 bond and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
