Students contribute to rescue group through pet portraits

Eighth-grade art students at East Lee Middle School in Sanford recently partnered with Lending Paws a Hand Animal Rescue to create vibrant pet portraits. The students worked hard to capture the unique personalities of dog and cat rescue animals in a bold, pop art style.

The colorful Pop Art for Paws paintings will be displayed starting the week of May 20 and auctioned off at a special adoption event held at Wild Dogs Brewery on June 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event will also include adoptable dogs, dog-related raffle items, and a special guest animal art vendor, Binky and Bell.

The funds raised at the event will directly support the important animal rescue work of Lending Paws a Hand Animal Rescue. By teaming up with the local rescue, the students not only honed their artistic skills but also had the rewarding experience of using their creativity to help homeless pets find loving forever homes. The collaboration is a wonderful success, showcasing the talented work of the eighth-grade artists while also giving back to the community.

If interested in bidding on the artwork in advance, an email can be sent to [email protected].
