Teen arrested after cars stolen from S.P. neighborhoods

An arrest has been made in the breaking and entering and vehicle theft case, according to the Southern Pines Police Department.

The police department said cars were broken into and stolen last weekend in Midsouth, Arboretum, Tanglewood and W. Illinois Ave. communities. 

The investigation division arrested a 17-year-old juvenile from Southern Pines on Tuesday. The juvenile is facing charges of two counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, seven counts of felony breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, felony financial transaction card theft, felony financial transaction card fraud and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.

The teenager was placed at a juvenile secure custody facility pending a hearing in Moore County court. This investigation is still active and ongoing, with additional charges pending.

“The Southern Pines Police Department is seeking additional information from the community and would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone who may have information related to this crime to contact the Southern Pines Police Department,” said the police department.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
