An 18-year-old wanted for the murder of his brother was arrested Monday, according to a news release from Southern Pines Police Department.

Gregory Elijuan Gay Jr, of Southern Pines, was charged with first-degree murder after being at large for a week and is being held without bond at the Moore County Detention Center.

Gay is accused of shooting his brother at their home at Creston Commons Apartments Dec. 2.

“The investigation that followed revealed that Marquese Donte Steadwell, 26 years of age, also a resident of Talmadge Way, was deceased as a result of gunshot wounds he had sustained during a domestic incident with his brother, Gregory Elijuan Gay Jr,” said the news release.

The suspect has a Dec. 19 court date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
