Tuesday wreck causes traffic delays in Carthage

On Monday, there were quite a few traffic delays in the Carthage area. Tuesday hasn’t been much different for our growing area and busy highways.

Shortly after 1 p.m., emergency responders were notified of a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 15/501, just past Jannie Lane. Carthage Fire and Rescue Department arrived to find a Chevrolet truck had left the road and struck a tree.

Moore County EMS evaluated and treated the driver on the scene. At the time of publication, the driver had not been transported to the hospital.

One lane of Highway 15/501 was closed, causing a traffic delay while motorists were directed around the wreck. The lane remained closed until the scene was investigated, all debris was removed, and the vehicle was towed. The road opened back up around 2:30 p.m.

N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Moore County Sheriff’s Department was also on scene assisting with traffic control.
