Two arrested on drug charges following traffic stop in Vass

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of two individuals on drug charges following a traffic stop in the Vass area.

On Oct. 29, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle search during the stop, leading to the discovery of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia.

Timothy Fairley Jr., 23, of Southern Pines, faces multiple charges, including trafficking in opium or heroin by possession and transport, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license, and failure to maintain lane control.

Fairley is being held under a 48-hour hold as per HB813, enacted in 2023, with a court date set for Nov. 27 in Moore County district court.

Josef Barnes, 40, of Southern Pines, has been charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barnes was placed under a $7,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County district court on Nov. 21.
