At least two people were transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the Midland Road exit ramp off U.S. 1 in Southern Pines.
The crash was reported shortly after 4 p.m. after a third-party caller told dispatchers that two vehicles had collided and one person was still inside one of the cars.
A silver Nissan and a red SUV were involved in the crash, though a cause was not stated on scene. The Nissan sustained heavy front-end damage, and both vehicles came to rest blocking the roadway.
Moore County EMS transported at least two people to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Authorities at the scene said the investigation was ongoing and no further details were immediately available.
The Southern Pines Police Department is investigating the crash. Southern Pines Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene and helped with cleanup while traffic moved slowly through the area.
