USPS offering reward in armed robbery of mail carrier in SP

The United States Postal Service is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for an armed robbery of a mail carrier in Southern Pines.

The Southern Pines Police Department is investigating the armed robbery that occurred on Elk Ridge Lane on Wednesday just after 1 p.m.

“The initial investigation revealed the postal worker was delivering mail at the community mailboxes when three unknown black male suspects approached the victim to rob him at gunpoint,” said Southern Pines Police Chief Nick Polidori in a press release.

The suspects allegedly stole personal effects from the mail carrier and undelivered mail and other property of the U.S. Postal Service. The postal worker was not injured.
