Woman airlifted after crashing motorcycle in Carthage

During a busy night for first responders in Carthage, emergency units were dispatched to a motorcycle crash outside Carthage city limits. After being released from the scene of an accident at Speer Concrete, Carthage Fire Department responded to the area in the 700 block of Dowd Road. 

They arrived on the scene to find a woman who was riding on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle had struck a deer, which caused her to crash just off the shoulder of the road.

EMS evaluated her and requested a medevac helicopter to transport her to a trauma center. The helicopter landed at Gilliam-McConnell Airfield in front of the Pik N Pig restaurant.

She was alert and conscious at the scene while being transported into the helicopter and is expected to be OK.

Traffic was slowed down to one lane on Dowd Road while crews worked the scene.
