Car incinerated in Pinehurst fire

First responders quickly jumped into action on Wednesday morning following reports of an intense car fire. Upon arriving on the scene shortly after 11:20 a.m., firefighters found a Dodge Charger engulfed in flames in the Pinehurst Brewing Company parking lot.

The car was thoroughly charred inside and out, with flames so intense that glass shattered and parts of the car warped. The fire’s cause is still under investigation, though it is confirmed no one was in the vehicle at the time the fire started, and no one was injured as a result of the fire.

Bystanders watched as Pinehurst firefighters battled the blaze and worked to clear the scene of the charred remains of the car. Smoke could be seen from Highway 211, while soot, ash, and debris scattered around the car.

Witnesses recalled how intensely the car burned and had “never seen anything like it before.” The heat could still be felt coming off the car after the flames were extinguished. The scene took over an hour to clear.
