A trailer full of cold weather resources, including coats, boots, blankets, hats, gloves, and other items, was delivered by Moore County Public Safety staff to Anchor Baptist Ministries in Transylvania County on Thursday.
The supplies were donated by members of the Moore County community in response to a resolution by the Moore County Board of Commissioners requesting assistance to the residents of Transylvania County who were significantly impacted by Hurricane Helene in September.
“The items were received with great appreciation, and the Moore County Board of Commissioners offers its sincere gratitude to the people of Moore County for their generosity in this response,” said Moore County in a news release. “The Board also thanks Pastor Lee McKinney and New Covenant Fellowship Church for providing space for the donated items and staffing the collection days.
The Moore County Board of Commissioners previously approved a resolution “adopting” Transylvania County to assist with disaster recovery efforts, and Moore County officials will continue working with representatives of Transylvania County regarding the needs for recovery and share that information with the public.
Citizens interested in offering housing or debris removal assistance will find more details and may indicate their available resources via a form on the Moore County website at: www.moorecountync.gov. If unable to complete the form online, citizens may call 910-947-4361 for staff assistance.
