Twenty-two students graduated from the fire academy and law enforcement academy at Sandhills Community College last week.
The Pinehurst Fire Department served as the Honor Guard with CAM Pipes and Drums to present and retire the colors, announced the college. Bradly Dick from the Southern Pines Fire Department gave the invocation, and Stephen Cox, deputy chief of Pinehurst Fire Department was the speaker. SCC Fire Academy Coordinators Josh Womack and Scott Chisholm also participated in the ceremony.
Posting and retirement of colors was by the Moore County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Ronnie Fields was the speaker. SCC Director Ron Turk presided over the ceremony with a welcome from SCC President Sandy Stewart and awards presented by the senior leadership team.
Fire academy graduates included Dustin Adams, unaffiliated; Jayden Bell, Hillcrest Fire Department; Brandon Fulwood, Benhaven Fire Department; Jose Lacsina, Southern Pines Fire Department; Robert Lincoln, Cary Fire Department; Celina Lugo, Rockfish Fire Department; Travis Nason, Southern Pines Fire Department; Zachary Reaves, Seven Lakes Fire Department; Alexander Schmitz, Cary, Fire Department; Emily Swardz, Seven Lakes Fire Department; and Derek Veatch, Carolina Trace Fire Department.
Law Enforcement Academy graduates at included Aaron Acosta, William Baldwin, Aaron Chever, Melvin Jeter, Wyatt McNeill, Margaret Pridgen, Jorge Ruiz-Rayon, Gregory Reaves, Nicholas Upchurch, Carson Vinet and Jamie Hunter.
