Railhouse Brewery has chugged into downtown Southern Pines (in more ways than one) with the opening of the latest taproom, Railhouse Brewery: Penn Station.
The business opened Memorial Day in the building that previously housed Southern Pines Brewing Company and the original location of Southern Pines Growler Company.
In social media posts announcing the opening, Railhouse Brewery thanked the Southern Pines and Moore County communities for supporting the new venture and said several local businesses and individuals helped prepare the space for opening day.
“We cannot begin to thank the wonderful people of Southern Pines and the surrounding Moore County, North Carolina community for such a warm welcome at the opening of Railhouse Brewery: Penn Station,” reads one post. “There are so many individuals that have gone the extra miles to make us look great on this day and it means so much to our family to be accepted by such a great community.”
According to the brewery, the new location will serve Railhouse beers, wine, cider from James Creek Ciderhouse, and craft sodas. A plan for liquor and a full bar may present itself in the future.
The brewery also said the taproom will be available for community gatherings and events, including book clubs, church groups, “moms’ night out,” and club meetings during weekday evenings.

Local touches from start to finish, including a stunning mural by local artist Emma Hogan.
Railhouse Brewery announced plans for the Southern Pines location several days before opening, saying crews had spent months cleaning, painting, and decorating the building ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
The taproom, located at 205 W. Pennsylvania Ave., is pet- and family-friendly and encourages customers to bring in takeout food from nearby downtown restaurants and businesses.
The business is open from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from noon to midnight Friday and Saturday.
