A truck went up in flames at a Southern Pines intersection Monday afternoon, temporarily shutting down the area while crews worked.
According to radio traffic, the fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. at East Indiana Avenue and South May Street. The vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup truck, was reportedly already fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
Local fire units responded quickly and brought the fire under control.
The intersection remained closed while emergency crews worked and the damaged vehicle was removed from the roadway.
It’s unclear whether anyone was injured. The cause of the fire had not been released.
