Radici Trading Company brings real meals to area tables

People, maybe now more than ever, are pressed for time. Nathan Kaminski-Horak knows that. The owner of Radici Trading Company, a lifestyle brand headquartered in Cameron, Nathan and his wife, Ashley, have lived in the area since 2022.

Radici – an entity that requires the wearing of different hats – has been in business for almost a year.

“We’ve been on a health-and-wellness journey for a few years,” Nathan, who was born in Michigan and raised in Minnesota, said.

According to the Radici website, the company aims to connect people to what is real through a variety of methods. Among the paths listed are holistic wellness, soulful food, and transformative travel. The business is devoted to honoring tradition and getting clients back to their roots.

An emphasis is placed on creating experiences that heal, nourish, and inspire.

Radici at the Table is part of what’s offered. The service brings a personal chef, Nathan, into the homes of busy residents.

“I do kind of a meal prep,” Nathan, who’s been in the food industry for 16 years, said. “I just prep the food. I focus mainly on dinners.”

Along with preparing the food, Nathan can also do grocery shopping – if requested – for customers.

“That’s the other side (of the service),” he said.

Having a personal chef preparing meals brings a unique twist to a family’s table.

“It’s kind of bringing a fine-dining experience into your home,” Nathan, a product of Johnson & Wales University, said.

To date, the audience has welcomed the concept of having a professional in the kitchen.

“People seem to like the idea,” Nathan said.

Located in Providence, R.I., Johnson & Wales features more than 100 undergrad programs, from business to tech to hospitality. The school was founded in 1914.

“I loved it,” Nathan said. “It was great to me.”

While focusing on organic and whole foods, Radici makes an effort to source ingredients from North Carolina. With proximity less of an issue, Nathan can get familiar with how producers do things.

“I can talk to them,” he said. “I try to source local as much as possible.”

Things may change down the road, but, right now, Radici is a family operation.

“It’s just me and my wife,” Nathan said.

If more staff is needed, Radici does have another chef waiting in the wings.

In addition to preparing food, Radici provides expertise in other areas.

“We’ve owned a travel agency, Dawn Of Adventures, for seven years,” Nathan said. “We’ve just kind of steadily grown.”

Next year, Radici will host “Salt, Stone & Vine,” a culinary excursion into northern Italy that includes stops in Bologna, Modena, Parma and Verona.

Although he’s not of Italian descent, Nathan has a deep appreciation of Italy and its storied cuisine.

“Every area of Italy has its own type of food,” he said.
