A driver escaped injury in a rollover crash Saturday night in Carthage. The single-vehicle crash happened around 7 p.m. on U.S. 15-501 at the Vass-Carthage Road bridge, just north of the Carthage Fire Department.
A Honda passenger car was traveling southbound when the driver lost control. The vehicle ended up on the opposite side of the guardrail and overturned, coming to a stop on its roof.
The driver was the only occupant and was able to get free of the vehicle. However, he was given a field sobriety test and, shortly after being evaluated at the scene by EMS, was released into the custody of the Carthage Police Department.

U.S. 15-501 was shut down for nearly an hour while crews worked the scene and the vehicle could be removed.
There was some damage to the guardrail due to the crash, and NCDOT is being notified.
Responding units were Carthage Fire Department, Carthage Police Department, and Moore County EMS.
