Two people were transported to the hospital Wednesday after a T-bone collision at the intersection of U.S. 24-27 and McDuffie Road near Eagle Springs shortly before noon.
Authorities at the scene told Sandhills Sentinel that a Toyota Camry was traveling east on U.S. 24-27 when a Honda Accord pulled out from McDuffie Road, failing to yield the right of way at the stop sign.
The Camry’s airbags deployed, its windshield was cracked, and the vehicle sustained extensive damage to the front driver’s side.
According to radio traffic, air care was initially requested but later canceled after paramedics evaluated the patients. The two occupants of the Camry were transported to be checked out for non life threatening injuries. The three occupants of the Accord were not transported.
Police also said a woman and baby fled from the scene. No further details were provided.
U.S. 24-27 was shut down while the scene was cleared. Eastbound traffic was directed onto McDuffie Road, while westbound traffic was at a standstill.
Moore County EMS, the Robbins Police Department, Robbins Fire Department, Eagle Springs Fire Department, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to the incident.
