Motorcyclist airlifted after collision

A man was airlifted Friday night after a collision involving a motorcycle and a car outside Foxfire. The wreck was called in around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Foxfire Road and Pinecrest Court Road.

According to radio traffic, the motorcyclist was initially unconscious after the crash and suffered a serious leg injury. Paramedics evaluated him at the scene before transporting him to a nearby landing zone established for Tarheel 2 air care in a field by the intersection.

The motorcycle remained in the roadway while authorities worked the scene.

Authorities did not release additional details about the incident.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

West End Fire Department and Moore County EMS also responded.
