One person was sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck in Southern Pines on Wednesday afternoon. The crash was reported around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and Voit Gilmore Lane, near the entrance to Pinecrest High School.
According to scanner traffic, the call was initially dispatched as a head-on collision involving heavy damage. Aircare was placed on standby.
When emergency crews arrived, they found no one trapped or pinned in either vehicle and canceled an additional rescue unit.
One person was transported to the hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.
Northbound traffic on U.S. 15-501 was rerouted onto Voit Gilmore Lane past Pinecrest High School while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The cause of the crash was not disclosed.
Southern Pines Fire Department, Southern Pines Police Department, and Moore County EMS responded.
