A two-vehicle collision in the Eastwood community Saturday night slowed traffic through a busy intersection and sent one person to the hospital.
The crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the intersection of NC Highway 73 and Murdocksville Road in West End.
Officials told Sandhills Sentinel at the crash site that a Toyota Camry traveling north on Murdocksville Road attempted to cross the intersection of N.C. Highway 73 and pulled into the path of a Honda CRV traveling west on Highway 73.
When the vehicles collided, the Toyota was actually struck twice, front and rear, and the Honda rolled at least once. Both vehicles came to a stop upright at the northwest corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Honda was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Neither occupant of the Toyota was transported to the hospital.
N.C. Highway Patrol was on scene investigating and stated that the Honda driver did not have their headlights on. A witness who followed the vehicle before the crash confirmed this.
Crews briefly shut down one lane of NC Highway 73 while working the scene. Spivey’s Garage and Wrecker Service towed both vehicles from the scene.
Responding to the scene were Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. Highway Patrol.
