No injuries reported in crash involving Carthage Rescue truck

Yet another crash in Carthage on U.S.15-501 at the Monroe Street crossover shut down the intersection Sunday night. The crash, which was reported around 7:30 p.m., involved Carthage Rescue Truck 319 and delayed traffic for over an hour.

According to officials on scene, a rescue crew was performing Driver Training in town. As they were headed back to the station and were traveling southbound on U.S. 15-501, a Toyota Tundra pulling a small trailer attempted to cross the intersection from Monroe Street.

The driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled into the path of the Carthage Rescue truck.

The Carthage Rescue truck clipped the rear of the Toyota, causing the trailer to dislodge.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, leaving debris scattered across the intersection.

Southbound U.S. 15-501 was shut down for over an hour while crews worked the scene.

Responding units were the Carthage Fire Department and the Carthage Police Department. Rockwell Towing arrived on scene to remove the truck and trailer.
