Mac’s Breakfast Anytime robbed, employees held at gunpoint

An otherwise quiet evening at a local restaurant in Aberdeen turned into a nightmare for some employees and patrons when Mac’s Breakfast Anytime restaurant, located at 1904 N. Sandhills Boulevard in Aberdeen, was robbed at gunpoint Friday night.

Employees were working what seemed to be a normal shift until an armed male came in the back door. The man took their phones and a money bag before locking them in a room with two patrons who were inside.

Multiple officers from the Aberdeen Police Department, along with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, arrived on scene within minutes and began investigating.

According to radio traffic, the suspect fled north up U.S. 1 toward Southern Pines.

A K9 officer was brought in to help track the suspect and search for evidence. The stolen phones were found tossed in a storm drain nearby.

Officers and detectives spent several hours on scene collecting evidence and gathering information.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
