One person was killed, and another was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Thursday morning after a crash involving a golf cart in Pinehurst.
The crash was reported shortly before 8 a.m. at Beulah Hill Road and Shaw Road. It closed Beulah Hill Road from Cherokee Road to Linden Road.
According to radio traffic, first responders began performing CPR on at least one person shortly after arriving at the scene. Air medical transport was also requested following the initial evaluation.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was taken by ambulance to a landing zone at the Arboretum before being airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Another person was transported to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
The golf cart sustained heavy damage and was left in the middle of the roadway following the crash.

Traffic was diverted while authorities worked at the scene. At 8:45 a.m., the Village of Pinehurst released an official announcement warning commuters of the closure and urging them to find alternative routes.
“Motorists should use an alternate route and allow extra travel time,” reads the announcement. “Please use caution and give first responders room to work. We’ll share additional information as it becomes available.”
Authorities at the scene did not immediately release details about how the crash occurred, but it involved a golf cart and a vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing.
