Moped crash closes Beulah Hill Road in Pinehurst

A moped rider was injured Friday afternoon after crashing his moped in Pinehurst. The incident happened on Beulah Hill Road North near Shaw Road shortly before 3 p.m.

The incident marked the second crash Sandhills Sentinel covered at the intersection in two days, after a fatal crash involving a golf cart claimed the lives of a woman and a dog Thursday morning.

Authorities said a call came in reporting that a man was unconscious in the roadway next to his moped with a “major head laceration.”

According to radio traffic, air care was initially requested because the rider was unconscious and the extent of his injuries was not immediately known. The request was canceled after he regained consciousness and was able to speak with EMS.

The rider refused treatment and left the scene.

The section of Beulah Road between Shaw Road and McKenzie Road was shut down while first responders assessed the man and moved his moped.

Moore County EMS, Pinehurst Fire Department, and the Village of Pinehurst Police Department responded to the call.
