Four people, including a child, were transported to the hospital to be checked out after a T-bone collision at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and Savannah Garden Drive in Carthage on Friday.
Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that the collision occurred when a Toyota Corolla pulled out of Savannah Garden Drive into the southbound path of a Honda CRV just after 12 p.m.
The driver of the Corolla suffered a head injury, while the three occupants of the CRV were checked out and transported for non-life-threatening injuries. According to radio traffic, air care was initially requested but was able to be canceled after EMS evaluated the patients on scene.
The front of the CRV struck the driver’s side of the Corolla, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
Traffic was backed up on U.S. 15-501 as emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage. Rockwell Towing arrived to assist with removing the vehicles from the roadway.
The Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS, and the Moore County Sherrif’s Office responded to the call.
