A Sunday afternoon in the Sinclair community near Mt. Pleasant turned into a chaotic scene after a juvenile reportedly took a family member’s van from their residence and proceeded to damage several properties.
The scene unfolded around 5:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Turriff Way when the juvenile reportedly fled from a home and began driving at a high rate of speed through the family-packed neighborhood.
A Moore County Sheriff’s Office unit was in pursuit of the vehicle through the neighborhood, which finally ended in the front yard of a residence at the end of South Prince Henry Way.
When the pursuit ended, the Dodge had sustained a blown tire, a severe oil leak, and the back glass was busted out.
During the pursuit through the community, at least two homes were struck, including a garage with structural damage, along with several mailboxes and a vehicle parked in a driveway. When the juvenile first took off, he drove through a garage door.
The juvenile was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Multiple units with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, along with units with the N.C. Highway Patrol, were in the community investigating the scene.
