Residents of a home in Pinebluff were displaced after a fire damaged their home Saturday evening.
According to officials on scene, the fire broke out in a room in the back corner of the house shortly before 7 p.m. At the time, neighbors across the street were having a party, and once they noticed the smoke coming from the home, they immediately called 911. The residents had reportedly been out of town for the day and were arriving home about the same time the call went out, but they thought the smoke was from a neighbor grilling out.
The Pinebluff Police Department was first on scene, and officers attempted to use a water hose to knock down some of the fire until firefighters arrived, but the fire was too intense.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back part of the house and part of the attic space. Other parts of the home sustained some water damage from firefighting operations.
