A scam is currently going around the Moore County area targeting older citizens.
The Town of Aberdeen announced on social media that the police department has received a report that citizens are receiving phone calls from a “grandson” that has been arrested and is requesting bail money. The scammers will have the names of the citizens’ grandsons trying to make the scam sound legitimate.
The police are cautioning the public to hang up the phone immediately without giving any personal information if the scammers make contact.
