A three-alarm fire in West End displaced 6 adults and 8 children Monday morning.
West End Fire and Rescue said that 17 fire apparatus from 10 fire departments rushed to the Seven Lakes West community when a 7,500-square-foot three-story home on Morgan Trail Court went up in flames at 1 a.m.
West End Fire said on its social media page that the first units arrived to find heavy fire bursting through the roof.
“Due to the size and complex layout of the home, a Second Alarm was quickly requested for additional personnel, along with a ladder truck from Southern Pines or a tower truck from Aberdeen,” said West End Fire and Rescue. “Just after 2:00 a.m., a Third Alarm was requested, bringing additional firefighters and apparatus to the scene.”
Everyone escaped the fire before fire crews arrived.
The fire was under control at 2:30 a.m., and the last units cleared the scene at 5 a.m.
“This incident demonstrated the strength of the automatic aid system in Moore County,” said West End Fire. “Through outstanding teamwork, coordination, and professionalism, firefighters from across the county worked together to contain the fire, protect the remaining portions of the home, and ensure everyone made it home safely.”
Red Cross is assisting with resources.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they work through the difficult next steps,” said West End Fire.
Responding fire departments were West End, Seven Lakes, Eagle Springs, Pinehurst, Eastwood, Whispering Pines, Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Pinebluff and Robbins.
Other departments included public safety, sheriff’s office, and EMS.
