The North Carolina Symphony will “roll out the red carpet” for an evening of hit themes from favorite films through the years. The Symphony’s Night at the Oscars® program on May 29 at 8:00 pm at Pinecrest High School will be the final performance of the 2017/18 concert season in Southern Pines.

Music plays an important role in the success of Hollywood’s greatest movies, and this evening at the Symphony celebrates the compelling, captivating scores of Oscar-winning film composers.

Audiences will enjoy music from the award-winning scores for E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (John Williams), How to Train Your Dragon (John Powell), Chicago (John Kandor), West Side Story (Leonard Bernstein), popular songs from the James Bond series, and more.

NCS Associate Conductor Wesley Schulz will conduct this fun-filled program of immediately recognizable tunes.

“We all like movies, and this program literally has something for everyone,” says Schulz. “Come hear all of your favorite music from the silver screen played live by the North Carolina Symphony!”

The evening will begin with a pre-concert talk about the music, free to all ticket-holders, at 7pm in the Pinecrest High School band room.

Tickets, starting at $18, can be purchased at ncsymphony.org
