AOS Care Management announced that Anessa Mercer has joined the Aging Outreach Services team. She has been shadowing and supporting the care management team for the past few months.
“Anessa is extremely qualified and eager to collaborate with new clients as they navigate their current and future lifestyle needs,” states Jennifer Tyner, lead care manager. Tyner encourages the community to reach out to Mercer directly to schedule a care management consultation.
Mercer has an undergraduate degree in psychology, a master’s degree in social work, in addition to valuable experience and knowledge gained from working in a hospital case management department and from being a coordinator of services for adults and children with mental health and intellectual development disabilities.
She discovered a passion for helping older adults locate the resources needed to safely return home from a medical stay and to be successful in their preferred environment.
“I joined AOS Care Management to pursue a career that allows me to focus on working specifically with older adults and assisting them as they age well in place,” said Mercer. “This is my true passion and why I started down the path of social work many years ago.”
A Moore County native who genuinely loves living, working, and participating in all this community has to offer, Mercer also enjoys spending time with her family and friends in whatever capacity that might be. Her faith is foundational for her and a key factor in her everyday life. She enjoys doing fitness classes at FirstHealth and a good pickleball game. She also loves to try new foods and is always open to suggestions for new dishes and new restaurants in the area.
