Moore County Public Safety officials are monitoring the flooding from Tropical Depression Chantal at Crystal Lake in the Lakeview community just south of Vass. The North Carolina Dam Safety inspector has been on site to complete an evaluation. Currently, there is no imminent threat of dam failure. The State inspector continues to evaluate dams near Taylortown, Whispering Pines and Southern Pines.
“We encourage citizens to continue to be aware of flooding across the county,” said Moore County Department of Public Safety Director Bryan Phillips in a media release. “During nighttime flooded roadways are difficult to see if you approach these conditions, ‘Turn Around Don’t Drown.'”
