An Evening With Our Harness Horse Friends featuring The New York Tenors

On chilly winter mornings, Pinehurst’s historic harness horse track is a hub of activity, where well-bred horses and their trainers go about their routines in preparation for the spring racing season across the eastern United States.

Owners and trainers adopted Pinehurst as a winter base many decades ago, favoring its moderate climate, three tracks — the signature tracks (a half-mile inner track and 5/8ths-mile outer track) off of Highway 5, and a one-mile training track — and ample stalls.

As part of its mission to revive community awareness of our vibrant harness racing heritage, Pinehurst Past, Present and Future is saluting our annual visitors by hosting a tribute to the harness horse community at The Fair Barn on the track grounds on Saturday, Jan. 25 featuring a live concert by The New York Tenors.

The New York Tenors are widely acclaimed entertainers who tour the United States annually, frequently performing in New York’s Carnegie Hall. The trio has regularly performed to standing-room-only audiences for more than a decade. Known for dramatic renditions of musical standards and original lyrics, the New York Tenors are headlined by Andy Cooney, Christopher Macchio and Daniel Rodriguez.

“An Evening with our Harness Horse Friends” is presented by Pinehurst Past, Present and Future, a 501c3 charitable organization. Individual tickets are $150. Reserve one or more tables of eight ($1,200/table). Ticket costs are tax deductible. To reserve tickets, call 910-922-3041. This event is expected to sell out.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about how to own shares in two locally trained harness horses through the Pinehurst Racing Partners syndicate founded by Pinehurst native and businessman Marty McKenzie. Syndicate membership is expanding. Additional horses will be acquired in 2025, and beyond.
