Moore County Animal Services administered 225 rabies vaccines to local pets during a week-long rabies vaccination clinic held from Aug. 11-16. The clinic, hosted at the Moore County Animal Services building located at 5235 Hwy 15-501 in Carthage, was organized to help safeguard pets and the community from the rabies virus.
Vaccinations were offered at a discounted rate of $5, and community turnout far exceeded expectations. The process was smooth and efficient, ensuring pets received proper vaccinations while also providing education to owners on rabies prevention, according to Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
Moore County Animal Services responds to numerous rabies-related reports each year, including a confirmed case just two weeks ago in the Aberdeen area.
“Vaccinating pets remains one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of this dangerous virus, which poses a serious threat to both humans and animals,” said Fields in a statement.
Citizens are reminded that Moore County Animal Services provides rabies vaccinations year-round, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for $10. For more information or to learn about additional services, download the Moore County Sheriff’s Office app or call (910) 947-2858.
