Capodanno football ends season on high note

The Father Vincent Capodanno High School football team recently capped off its fifth season with an impressive 64-13 victory over Lee Christian, finishing the year with a 5-5 record.

Several players, along with Head Coach Tim Jennings, received recognition from the Christian Independent (8-Man) Conference for their exceptional performances throughout the season.

Jennings earned an honorable mention for Coach of the Year, showcasing his strong leadership and dedication to the team. Junior Gunnar Johansson was named Conference Defensive Player of the Year, a prestigious award that highlights his dominance on the field. Senior Elijah Collins and Sophomore Daniel Attar also earned spots as All-Conference players for their outstanding contributions. Additionally, Junior Canon Capps received an honorable mention for his efforts on the field.

“As the Capodanno ‘Grunts’ prepare for their 2026 campaign, excitement continues to build around the program’s future,” said Assistant Coach Paul Lehto in a press release.

The private Catholic school, located in Vass, is in the process of constructing a new campus off Hwy 690 near U.S. 1.

“This expansion signals significant growth and new opportunities for both students and athletes,” added Lehto.

The football program welcomes homeschool students to join and participate in its developing program. Interested players can contact Tim Jennings at 240-383-5038 for more information.
