A group of Union Pines High School seniors marked the next step in their athletic careers Wednesday as eight student-athletes signed letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level.
Union Pines High School held its final signing day of the school year and celebrated athletes from four different sports who committed to play for colleges and universities across the region and beyond. Eight athletes signed during a ceremony at the school, bringing the total to 33 for this year.
The student-athletes and their college commitments are:
Ian Hicks: Methodist University (football)
Drew Dougherty: Brevard College (football)
Makayla Phillips-Rosa: Warren Wilson College (basketball)
Connor Shoell: Northland Technical & Community College (basketball)
LilyAnn Blair: University of Mount Olive (wrestling)
Sophia Troemel: University of Mount Olive (wrestling)
Dominic Blue: Western Wyoming Community College (wrestling)
Isabella Haines: Western Carolina University (cheer)
