The Southern Pines Business Association announced that David Bungarz, owner of Embers BBQ, has been selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Southern Pines Christmas Parade.
The annual Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Southern Pines, bringing together residents, families, local businesses, community organizations and visitors for one of the community’s most anticipated holiday traditions.
David was selected in recognition of his contributions to the Southern Pines community and the role Embers BBQ has played in being a community supporter. Since November 2025, Embers has handed out free meals to anyone in need. Community members are welcome to make donations either in person or online. Embers has become a familiar face in the community and represents the entrepreneurial spirit and hometown pride that make Southern Pines unique.
“We are excited to recognize David Bungarz as this year’s Grand Marshal,” said Michael White, committee chair of the parade committee. “David and Embers BBQ are a great example of the local businesses that make Southern Pines such a special place. The Christmas Parade is about celebrating our community, and we couldn’t think of a better person to help lead this year’s celebration.”
As Grand Marshal, Bungarz will lead this year’s parade as the community comes together to celebrate the holiday season. The parade will feature festive floats, local businesses, civic and community organizations, performers, marching groups, and a special appearance by Santa Claus.
“Southern Pines has been incredibly welcoming to me, my family, and everyone at Embers BBQ,” said David Bungarz. “It is a tremendous honor to be named Grand Marshal. I’m looking forward to celebrating Christmas with the entire community and being part of such a great Southern Pines tradition.”
The Southern Pines Business Association invites everyone to come downtown on Saturday, December 5, at 11 a.m. to enjoy the parade and kick off the holiday season with friends, family, and neighbors.
