Polly Jo Denny Holder, age 95, of Cameron, went to her heavenly home on October 18, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Carthage, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 8.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Vass, with Pastor Paul McClure and Pastor Bill Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery in Vass.
Polly was born in Surry County, North Carolina, on December 12, 1930, to the late Hylton Joel Denny and Essie Key Denny. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Lancaster Holder; granddaughter, Carrie Delores Holder; sisters, Ann King and Rena Overby; and brother, David Denny.
She worked at the Clerk of Court Office in Moore County when Mom and Dad first married. Later, she left the Clerk of Court’s office to work with Dad on the farm until they started the upholstery shop. She also taught upholstery classes through continuing education at CCTC and Sandhills Community College. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Jerry M. Holder (Cheryl) of Cameron, Joel Holder (Cynthia) of Cameron, Vickie Blue (John) of Carthage, Dennis Holder (Kathy) of Pinehurst; grandchildren, Jamie Taylor (Sammy), Lindsay Wilson (Leslie), Regan Smith (Johnny), Kevin Holder (Sara), Kelly Holder, Karen Nall (Kevin), Samuel Blue (Anna), Caroline Holder, Sarah Holder; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Gaines of Broadway, Jackie Lankford of Sanford and many beloved nieces and nephews.
