A large water main break at Yadkin Road and Boiling Spring Circle in Southern Pines damaged the roadway Monday night. The incident, which led to heavy isolated flooding, prompted a road closure and reports of water service disruptions.
The Town of Southern Pines reported the break on Facebook at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, and stated that water department crews were on scene.
Water could be seen spewing across the street and surrounding areas. The town said the damaged road would be closed while crews made repairs.
Southern Pines water customers also reported outages and low water pressure following the break.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid Yadkin Road in the affected area and use alternate routes while crews work.
The last update was Monday night, and the town had not provided an estimated time for repairs to be completed or any official update as of Tuesday morning.
