APD seeking community feedback for accreditation process

The Aberdeen Police Department will undergo an assessment on March 19 as part of its pursuit of law enforcement accreditation.

“This assessment, conducted by the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation (NCLEA) program, is designed to ensure that our department meets established professional standards,” announced the Aberdeen Police Department in a news advisory.

The accreditation process evaluates various aspects of law enforcement operations, including policies and procedures, administration, support services, training, facilities management, safety, and record-keeping. These standards are crucial for maintaining high-quality public safety services.

“We invite both agency employees and community members to provide feedback on the Aberdeen Police Department’s adherence to NCLEA’s standards,” said the advisory.

Comments should be submitted via email or mail by March 18, one day before the on-site assessment. The Assessment Team will review all feedback.
