Assailant arrested in Aberdeen after Lobelia assault

Saturday morning, calm turned to chaos in one Moore County neighborhood after an alleged fight broke out between two men at a residence on Jolinda Road in Lobelia.

According to authorities, one of the men allegedly assaulted the other with a claw hammer before getting into a vehicle, hitting the corner of a mobile home, and then fleeing the scene.

Units with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene, and a BOLO was issued for a Ford Explorer that was possibly headed to an address on Victory Lane in Aberdeen.

Crains Creek Fire Department, along with Moore County EMS, were dispatched due to the victim’s injuries. Air care was initially requested but canceled a short time later, and the male was transported to Moore Regional Hospital via ambulance instead. His condition is unknown as of this report.

A short time later, the suspect arrived at the Victory Lane address and was taken into custody by law enforcement.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
