On February 1, 2020, the Moore County Homeschool Aquatics (MCHA) Black Marlins competed at the NCHEAC State Swim Championship in Goldsboro, NC. 

The girls’ and boys’ teams both placed fourth overall. 

JP Moon won the gold medal in the 50 free (22.69) and the silver medal in the 100 free (49.66). 

Jackson Hicks won the gold medal in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.72) and the silver in the 200 IM (2:07.80). 

Sarah Hicks won the gold medal in 100 breaststroke (1:13.82) and the bronze in the 200 free (2:17.35). 

Madison Fullmer won the bronze in the 100 fly (1:11.52). 

Additionally, the boys’ relay team (Luke Moon, Jackson Hicks, JP Moon, Joshua Johnson) won the silver medals in the 200 medley (1:53.28) and in the 200 free (1:40.49). 

The Marlins are in their second season and have seen much growth.  This fall, the Marlins will begin their season in October with both a middle school (fifth grade-eighth grade) and high school (ninth grade-12th grade) squad.  The Marlins competed against both private high schools in the area and other homeschool teams across the state.
