Byloff promoted to patrol lieutenant

William Byloff was recently promoted to patrol lieutenant within the Southern Pines Police Department.

Byloff began his law enforcement career with the Fayetteville Police Department in 2013 after six years of service in the Army, according to Southern Pines Police Department in a news release. Byloff joined the Southern Pines Police Department in 2020 and served as a police officer until being promoted to the rank of police sergeant in 2022. Byloff is a member of the department’s training staff and Special Response Team.

On Dec. 14-15, an assessment center for the position of patrol lieutenant was held at the Southern Pines Police Department. Each candidate was evaluated based on their performance in three dimensions: command management, written exercise, and a professional interview. Each dimension was evaluated by a panel of outside assessors whose evaluations were based upon a set of professional standards.

“The Southern Pines Police Department is pleased to have Lieutenant Byloff join the department’s Command Staff,” said Chief Polidori in a statement to Sandhills Sentinel.
