A Cameron woman was arrested Thursday after police said she allegedly assaulted her child in Aberdeen.
The Aberdeen Police Department said officers responded Sept. 25 to John McQueen Road after receiving a report of child abuse. Upon arrival, officers found a neighbor with the child and were able to speak with both.
“The child was visibly upset and advised his neighbor and officers that his mother had assaulted him by hitting him in the head multiple times and strangling him,” writes the Aberdeen Police Department. “Investigators spoke with the child and the neighbor, observed physical injuries, and then reviewed video surveillance that captured the incident.”
Subsequently, Savannah Fowler, 29, was arrested and charged with felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor child abuse, and misdemeanor assault on a child under 12.
Fowler appeared before a Moore County magistrate and was ordered held without bond, pending a hearing before a district court judge.
All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
