Candidate forum for Board of Education announced for Feb. 15

A record eight candidates are vying for the two open Member At-Large seats on the Moore County Board of Education in the 2026 Primary Election on March 3:

The candidates are: Anthony B. McCauley, Don Zawlocki, Megan Numbers, David A. Norris, Jim Pedersen, Shannon Davis, Olivia Oxendine, and Tucker McKenzie.

The League of Women Voters of Moore County is hosting a Meet the Candidates Forum at the Village Hall in Pinehurst on Sunday, February 15, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., with all eight candidates having accepted the invitation.

The public is invited to hear the candidates introduce themselves, tell why they are running for the Board of Education, and outline their top 3 priorities for Moore County Schools. This will be followed by an opportunity to meet the candidates at their respective tables and ask questions.

The League of Women Voters will have information on VOTE411, updating your voter registration address, registering to vote during early voting, where to vote, and more.

For this Primary Election, voters will vote for 2 candidates. The four candidates with the most votes will be on the Ballot for the November 3 election. The two with the most votes in November will fill the Member at Large seats.

Because the Board of Education election is nonpartisan, it is the only Primary Election contest that will appear on ALL ballots, regardless of party affiliation.

Chris A. Steiner and Sammy McNeill are running for the 3rd open seat on the Board of Education from District III. They will be on the November ballot.

Citizens of Moore County are encouraged to attend the forum to learn about the candidates and their vision for Moore County Schools.
