A new Community Center in Pinehurst is on its way and the design work has started now. Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department announced today that 18,000 square feet facility will be designed by Oakley Collier Architects from Raleigh.

The Cannon Park Community Center will be located near the corner of Rattlesnake Trail and Hwy 211.  The Village said the facility will likely include a full-size gymnasium with court lines for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, a multi-purpose room, various classrooms for programs and activities, offices for the Parks and Recreations staff, restrooms, storage, and a small concession/catering kitchen.

The Village staff/design team will be touring facilities in other towns to seek out the best practices and efficient use of spaces, according to the Village of Pinehurst.

The Village announced there will be opportunities for the public’s input and feedback as they work toward a final design and plan approval.

The scheduled completion time for the design process is for this summer or early fall.  Once this process is completed, construction bids will begin for the project.
