Two people were injured when their car slammed into the back of a dump truck and then struck a tree outside of Vass. The accident occurred on Highway 1 North near Tractor Supply Thursday just after 7 p.m.
According to officials, the dump truck pulled onto Highway 1 from Locust Lumber and was heading south when the car came upon the truck and slammed into the back of it. The impact sent the car off the right side of the road and into a tree.
The driver and passenger were transported to the hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
