Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle accident Thursday. 

The crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. just outside of Southern Pines.

A passenger vehicle veered off the road, colliding with a tree at the corner of Camp Easter Road and Sandy Pines Road.

The 911 dispatcher said the driver was able to open the car door but had trouble getting their legs to cooperate.

The driver, who was the sole passenger in the vehicle, was evacuated at the scene by Moore County EMS. No details were provided on the extent of injuries.

The vehicle suffered extensive front-end and driver’s side damage.

Responding emergency rescue units were Moore County EMS, Southern Pines Fire Department and Whispering Pines Fire Department.
